GM 4.3L Engine Oil and Filter Replacement

Change engine oil and oil filter

Apply clean oil to the gasket of the new filter

Tighten the filter 1/2 to 3/4 turn with your hand

Fill engine with oil until the full mark is reached on the dipstick

Check the area around the oil filter for leaks

Remove the right rear side panel

Unscrew and remove the old hydraulic tank breather

Replace with a new hydraulic tank breather

Install the right rear side panel

Move the lift truck to a well-ventilated area and ensure no external ignition sources are present.

Engine and Fuel System Preparation

When the engine runs out of fuel, turn key switch OFF position or, if equipped, press Power ON/OFF button OFF, and disconnect the negative terminal on the battery.

Operator Restraint System Check

Check that all parts are in place and functioning correctly

Inspect seat belt for damage or wear

Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) Operation Check

Check seat belt retraction and extension with hood closed

Check seat belt locking mechanism with sudden jerk

Check seat belt retraction with hood open

Seat Adjustment - Full Suspension

Is the seat adjusted for ergonomic position?

Prevent dirt entry into center body

Identify lift truck model and refer to appropriate figure

Remove the center body fill/level plug

Add oil at the fill/level port if necessary

Install the center body oil/level fill level plug
