Ensure safety precautions are taken before disassembly

Remove the oil drain plug and drain the oil sump

Remove all instrumentation sensors in contact with the bearing sleeve

Remove the socket head bolts holding the bearing cap and inner air seal

Remove the end cover plate if the non-drive end bearing is being disassembled

Remove the bearing cap and top half of the inner air seal and place them on a clean, dry surface

Remove the top half of the bearing sleeve using suitable eyebolts

Rotate the shaft a few revolutions

Pour in approximately one cup of oil

Confirm oil was poured and shaft was rotated

5.4 Clean the exterior of the motor

Ensure no build-up on screens and louvers

Ensure motor is not in operation before cleaning screens and louvers

Replace or clean air filters as needed

Clean the external fan thoroughly to prevent unbalance and vibration

Clean all tubes of the air-to-air heat exchanger using a synthetic fiber bristle tube brush

Check the wear level of the carbon brush

Replace the carbon brush if worn beyond acceptable limits

Verify the brush material against the motor's nameplate

Record the recommended brush type from the nameplate

Refer to CNS 2322 C4051 or JIS C2802 for brush, holder, and gap dimensions

Ensure the gap between the brush and holder is within specified limits

Ensure the volume and quality of lubrication oil are in compliance with specifications

Check motion of the oil ring to ensure it is not clamped

Measure the shaft endplay and ensure it is within the specified range of the red groove of the shaft

Is the shaft endplay within the ±0.118 in. (±3mm) range of the drive-end shaft shoulder?
