Refer to motor nameplate for lubricant type

Use only clean, fresh grease from clean containers

Has grease compatibility been checked and verified?

Contact Baldor District Office for compatibility questions, if any

Select the operating temperature range and corresponding lubricant

Ensure safety precautions are followed if lubrication is done with motor running

Ensure not to over-lubricate motor

Ensure sleeve bearing (oil lube) motors are drained of oil prior to shipment

Refill oil reservoirs to the indicated level with the specified lubricant

Storage — All Other Motor Types

Add additional grease to each bearing

Select the operating condition of the motor

Is the motor running at 1800 RPM or less?

Does the motor have roller bearings?

Verify the following before selecting lubricant

Select the operating temperature range

Select the recommended lubricant based on temperature

Section 3 — Lubrication Procedure

Ensure lubrication is done with the motor stationary and warm

Locate the grease inlet, clean the area, and replace the pipe plug with a grease fitting if necessary

Remove relief plug and clean if grease is caked

Is there severe caking at the plug?

Run the motor until the bearing housing is warm if severe caking is present

Locate the motor nameplate and find the recommended lubricant type and volume

Add the recommended volume of lubricant using a hand-operated grease gun

Run the motor for 2 hours with the relief plug removed
