Storage — Non-Regreaseable Motors

Rotate the motor shaft 15 times to redistribute the grease within the bearing

Rotate ball and roller bearing motor shafts manually

Has the motor been greased in the last 6 months?

Section 3 — Periodic Inspection

Listen for any abnormal noises and check cause immediately

Check for any vibration and check cause immediately if excessive vibration is found

Enter the voltage and frequency variations

Is the voltage balanced and within acceptable range?

Enter the power supply total harmonic distortion

Periodic checks of phase, voltage, frequency, and power consumption

Check air filters and air passages

Section 3 — Lubrication Procedure

Ensure lubrication is done with the motor running, stay clear of rotating parts and electrical circuits

Ensure not to over-lubricate motor

Relubricate with the shaft stationary and a warm motor is recommended

Locate the grease inlet, clean the area and replace the pipe plug with a grease fitting, if the motor is not equipped with grease fittings

Clean grease caked around the plug with a wooden stick or suitable tool

If severe caking appears at the plug, run the motor until the bearing housing is warm

Locate the motor nameplate to find the lubricant recommended type and volume

Ensure lubrication is done with the motor running, stay clear of rotating parts and electrical circuits

Ensure not to over-lubricate the motor

Is the shaft stationary and the motor warm?

Locate the grease inlet, clean the area and replace the pipe plug with a grease fitting if necessary

Is grease caked around the plug?

Clean caked grease with a wooden stick or suitable tool if necessary

Is there severe caking at the plug?

Record the current oil level in the sight gauge

Is the oil level at the midpoint of the sight gauge when the motor is at rest?

Is the oil level at the midpoint of the sight gauge during operation?

Adjust oil level if necessary to reach the midpoint of the sight gauge
