Washer Tub Seal Replacement
Preparation
Ensure all necessary parts for the seal replacement are available
Verify that the spin bearing is not defective
Remove the bearing and seal housing to access the tub seal
Face Seal Installation
Coat the mounting recess of the housings with silicone grease (part number 203959)
Ensure no grease comes in contact with the mating surfaces of the seal
Clean both seal mating surfaces with an alcohol saturated cloth
Verify that both seal mating surfaces are free of foreign matter
Washer Mixing Valve Testing
Preparation
Disconnect the unit from the power source
Remove all wiring from the solenoid(s) being tested
Testing Solenoid Continuity
Place the test leads across the terminals of the solenoid being tested and record the meter reading
Does the meter indicate continuity?
Enter the resistance reading of the coil (ohms)
Testing Solenoid Grounding
Place one test lead on one terminal of the solenoid being tested, and the other lead on a suitable ground. Record the meter reading
Washer Motor Testing
Preparation
Unplug the power cord
Disconnect all wiring connections from the machine wiring harness to the motor starting switch
Motor Testing
Test the following components
Does the motor run in one direction but not reverse?
If yes, describe the issue with the timer or wiring harness
Use a two conductor test cord with two female spade connector terminals on each conductor (tool number 038183)
Connect the spade connectors to terminals 1 and 4 on the starting switch
Washer Spin Switch Testing
Preparation
Disconnect the unit from the power source
Raise the top and open the clothes door
Safety Switch Assembly Removal
Remove the two screws securing the safety switch assembly to the underside of the top
Remove switch wiring
Ohmmeter Testing
Place test leads across the terminals at each end of switch
Is continuity NOT indicated when switch contacts are open?
Washer Oil Seal Replacement
Preparation
Disconnect the unit from the power source
Seal Removal
Remove the brake assembly to access the seal
Use a thin, flat bladed screwdriver to carefully pry the old seal out
Seal Installation
Place the drive washer and the new seal over the seal protector
Remove the cone-shaped end from the seal protector tool
Slide the tool, drive washer, and new seal over the drive shaft up to the seal cavity
