Washer Torque Testing
Pre-Test Preparation
Operate the washer in the agitation cycle with hot water for about two (2) minutes.
Operate the washer in a spin cycle for two (2) minutes.
Initial Spin Efficiency Test
Place a 3 1/2 pound weight, such as a bag of sand, in the washer basket.
Start the machine in the spin cycle.
Does the basket reach full spin with the weight?
Torque Test Procedures
Check the tub seal for drag or resistance.
Washer Mixing Valve Testing
Preparation
Disconnect the unit from the power source
Remove all wiring from the solenoid(s) being tested
Testing Solenoid Continuity
Place the test leads across the terminals of the solenoid being tested. Record the meter reading.
Does the meter indicate continuity?
Enter the resistance reading from the ohmmeter
Is the resistance approximately 860 ohms?
Testing Solenoid Grounding
Washer Water Level Switch Testing
Preparation
Ensure the washer is unplugged from the power source
Access the water level switch as detailed in Section 3 under Control Panel Disassembly
Testing with Ohmmeter
Check continuity across terminals 1-2 when the tub is empty
Is there continuity across terminals 1-2 when the tub is empty?
Check continuity across terminals 1-2 when the tub is filled as per the switch setting
Are terminals 1-2 open when the tub is filled?
Check continuity across terminals 1-3 when the tub is filled as per the switch setting
Washer Oil Seal Replacement
Preparation
Disconnect the unit from the power source
Seal Removal
Remove the brake assembly to access the seal
Use a thin, flat bladed screwdriver to carefully pry the old seal out
Seal Installation
Place the drive washer and the new seal over the seal protector
Remove the cone-shaped end from the seal protector tool
Slide the tool, drive washer, and new seal over the drive shaft up to the seal cavity
Motor Switch Testing
Preparation
Unplug the power cord
Disconnect all wiring connections from the machine wiring harness to the motor starting switch
Motor Switch Testing
Test the motor components
Connect a continuity tester between terminal 4 on the switch and the unmarked single terminal on the opposite side. Check for closed circuit indication.
Depress the switch button and check for open circuit indication between terminal 4 and the unmarked single terminal.
Check continuity between terminals 5 and 3 for closed circuit indication.
Connect the tester between terminal 5 and the unmarked single terminal next to terminal 3, depress the button, and check for continuity indication.
