Maytag Washer PAV2000AW*

Operate the washer in the agitation cycle with hot water for about two (2) minutes.

Operate the washer in a spin cycle for two (2) minutes.

Place a 3 1/2 pound weight, such as a bag of sand, in the washer basket.

Start the machine in the spin cycle.

Does the basket reach full spin with the weight?

Describe any issues observed during the initial spin efficiency test.

Disconnect the unit from the power source

Remove the transmission from the washer cabinet

Remove the cams, drive pulley, and brake assembly

Remove the screws securing the suspension housing to the lower bearing assembly

Slip the pipe and cap assembly over the drive shaft and up against the drive tube

Use a puller to remove the lower bearing assembly

Disconnect the unit from the power source

Remove the bearing and seal housing and the tub support

Remove the seal body from the housing cavity

Press the spin bearing out of the cavity from the opposite side of the housing

Install the replacement bearing into the housing cavity

Check that all parts are in place

Test the washer for proper operation after reassembly

Disconnect all wiring connections from the machine wiring harness to the motor starting switch

Connect continuity tester between terminal 4 and the unmarked single terminal on the opposite side

Does the tester indicate a closed circuit?

Depress the switch button and check if the tester indicates an open circuit

Check continuity between terminals 5 and 3

Ensure all necessary parts for seal replacement are available

Verify that the spin bearing is not defective

Remove bearing and seal housing if spin bearing replacement is needed

Follow steps 1 through 3 for the face seal

Coat the mounting recess of the housings with silicone grease (part number 203959)

Ensure no grease comes in contact with the mating surfaces of the seal

Clean both seal mating surfaces with an alcohol saturated cloth
