Washer Water Level Switch Testing
Preparation
Ensure the washer is unplugged from the power source
Access the water level switch as detailed in Section 3 under Control Panel Disassembly
Testing with Ohmmeter
Check continuity across terminals 1-2 with the tub empty using an ohmmeter
Check that terminals 1-2 are open and terminals 1-3 indicate continuity when the tub is filled as per the switch setting
Post-Testing
Reassemble the control panel
Was the water level switch functioning correctly?
Washer Lower Bearing Assembly Replacement
Preparation
Disconnect the unit from the power source
Disassembly
Remove the transmission from the washer cabinet
Remove the cams, drive pulley, and brake assembly
Remove the screws securing the suspension housing to the lower bearing assembly
Bearing Removal
Slip the pipe and cap assembly over the drive shaft and up against the drive tube
Use a puller with at least a 3 1/2 inch spread to remove the lower bearing assembly
Washer Oil Seal Replacement
Preparation
Disconnect the unit from the power source
Seal Removal
Remove the brake assembly to access the seal
Use a thin, flat bladed screwdriver to carefully pry the old seal out
Seal Installation
Place the drive washer and the new seal over the seal protector
Remove the cone-shaped end from the seal protector tool
Slide the tool, drive washer, and new seal over the drive shaft up to the seal cavity
Washer Tub Seal Replacement
Preparation
Ensure all necessary parts for the seal replacement are available
Verify that the spin bearing is not defective
Remove the bearing and seal housing if necessary
Face Seal Installation
Coat the mounting recess of the housings with silicone grease (part number 203959)
Ensure no grease comes in contact with the mating surfaces of the seal
Clean both seal mating surfaces with an alcohol saturated cloth
Verify that both seal mating surfaces are free of foreign matter
Washer Spin Bearing Replacement
Disconnect the unit from the power source
Remove the bearing and seal housing and the tub support
Remove the seal body from the housing cavity
Press the spin bearing out of the cavity from the opposite side of the housing
Install the replacement bearing into the housing cavity
Post replacement inspection
Check that all tools are removed from the work area
Ensure the unit is reconnected to the power source
