Washer Lower Bearing Assembly Replacement
Preparation
Disconnect the unit from the power source
Disassembly
Remove the transmission from the washer cabinet
Remove the cams, drive pulley, and brake assembly
Remove the three screws securing the suspension housing to the lower bearing assembly
Bearing Removal
Slip the pipe and cap assembly over the drive shaft and up against the drive tube
Use a puller with at least a 3 1/2 inch spread to remove the lower bearing assembly
Motor Switch Testing
Preparation
Unplug the power cord
Disconnect all wiring connections from the machine wiring harness to the motor starting switch
Motor Switch Testing
Test the motor components
Connect a continuity tester between terminal 4 and the unmarked single terminal on the opposite side. Does the tester indicate a closed circuit?
Depress the switch button. Does the tester indicate an open circuit?
Check continuity between terminals 5 and 3. Does the tester indicate a closed circuit?
Connect the tester between terminal 5 and the unmarked single terminal next to terminal 3 and depress the button. Does the tester indicate continuity?
Washer Spin Switch Testing
Preparation
Disconnect the unit from the power source
Safety Switch Assembly Removal
Remove the screws securing the safety switch assembly
Remove switch wiring
Ohmmeter Testing
Place test leads across the terminals at each end of switch
Is continuity indicated when switch contacts are open?
Depress the switch button while test leads are across the terminals
Washer Mixing Valve Testing
Preparation
Disconnect the unit from the power source
Remove all wiring from the solenoid(s) being tested
Testing Solenoid Continuity
Place the test leads across the terminals of the solenoid being tested. Record the meter reading.
Does the meter indicate continuity?
Testing Solenoid Grounding
Place one test lead on one terminal of the solenoid being tested, and place the other lead on a suitable ground. Record the meter reading.
Does the meter indicate no continuity?
Waher Base Replacement
Disconnect the unit from the power source
Tip unit and remove the drive belt
Disconnect the inlet hoses from the water mixing valve
Remove the access panel from the cabinet rear and disconnect the discharge hose from the pump outlet
Remove the top assembly
Remove the front panel
Disconnect lower wiring from the cabinet rear and remove pressure switch hose from tub air bell
Remove the screws attaching the cabinet to the base
Push the front of the cabinet slightly and push or pull it off the rear of the base
