Remove the two screws securing the safety switch assembly to the underside of the top

Ohmmeter Testing

Place test leads across the terminals at each end of switch. The switch contacts should be open, and continuity SHOULD NOT be indicated.

Leave the test leads across the terminals and depress the switch button. The switch contacts should close and continuity SHOULD be indicated.

Seal Removal

Remove the brake assembly to access the seal

Use a thin, flat bladed screwdriver to carefully pry the old seal out

Seal Installation

Check mark

Place the drive washer (tool number 14242) and the new seal over the seal protector

Check mark

Remove the cone-shaped end from the seal protector tool and slide the tool, drive washer, and new seal over the drive shaft up to the seal cavity

Slide the transmission seal driver (tool number 14242) over the drive shaft until it makes contact with the drive washer

Disconnect all wiring connections from the machine wiring harness to the motor starting switch

Test the following components

Does the motor run in one direction but not reverse?

Is the problem in the timer or wiring harness?

Use a two conductor test cord with two female spade connector terminals on each conductor (tool number 038183)

Check mark

Connect the two spade connectors on one side of the cord to terminals 1 and 4 on the starting switch

Disconnect the unit from the power source

Remove all wiring from the solenoid(s) being tested

Testing Solenoid Continuity

Check mark

Place the test leads across the terminals of the solenoid being tested and record the resistance

Does the meter indicate continuity?

Enter the resistance reading from the ohmmeter

Check mark

Testing Solenoid Grounding

Check mark

Place one test lead on one terminal of the solenoid being tested, and the other lead on a suitable ground
