Disconnect all wiring connections from the machine wiring harness to the motor starting switch

Connect continuity tester between terminal 4 and the unmarked single terminal and check for closed circuit

Depress the switch button and check for open circuit between terminal 4 and the unmarked single terminal

Check continuity between terminals 5 and 3 for closed circuit

Connect tester between terminal 5 and the unmarked single terminal next to terminal 3, depress the button, and check for continuity

Disconnect all wiring connections from the machine wiring harness to the motor starting switch

Read from the P to P terminals at the motor switch

Does the overload protector open repeatedly?

If Overload Protector Opens Repeatedly

Disconnect the unit from the power source

Remove all wiring from the solenoid(s) being tested

Place the test leads across the terminals of the solenoid being tested and record the resistance

Does the meter indicate continuity?

Enter the resistance reading from the ohmmeter

Place one test lead on one terminal of the solenoid being tested, and place the other lead on a suitable ground

Disconnect the unit from the power source

Raise the top and open the clothes door

Remove the two screws securing the safety switch assembly to the underside of the top

Place test leads across the terminals at each end of switch

Is continuity indicated when the switch contacts are open?

Operate the washer in the agitation cycle with hot water for about two (2) minutes.

Operate the washer in a spin cycle for two (2) minutes.

Place a 3 1/2 pound weight, such as a bag of sand, in the washer basket.

Start the machine in the spin cycle.

Does the basket reach full spin with the weight?

Describe any issues observed during the initial spin efficiency test.
