Ensure the semi-trailer is empty

Release all spring forces from the slack adjusters and cam shafts

Supply air to the spring brake chambers to relieve the spring forces

Raise the semi-trailer wheels with jacks placed under the axles as close to the wheels as possible

Check for holes or cuts in the tire tread

Inspect sidewalls for cuts, bruises, and other damage

Check tire valve and extension for air leaks

Inspect treadwear indicators for evenness with the tread surface

Perform the penny test on the tire tread

Is the tire pressure within the recommended range?

Is the vehicle load within the tire and vehicle load limits?

Ensure U-bolts are adjusted to the proper torque specification before delivery of the semi-trailer.

Retorque U-bolts at the end of the first 1000 miles of operation.

Retorque U-bolts at regular maintenance intervals (at least every 4 months).

Check for broken spring leaves between the U-bolts.

Replace the spring if broken leaves are found between the U-bolts.

Verify if only one leaf of a multi-leaf spring is broken.

Ensure the vehicle has been unused for at least three hours

Locate the correct tire pressure on the tire information placard or in the owner's manual

Record the tire pressure of all tires

Is the tire pressure too high in any of the tires?

If yes, slowly release air by gently pressing on the tire valve with the edge of your tire gauge until you get to the correct pressure

Is the tire pressure too low in any of the tires?
