Ensure all necessary equipment is available (ultrasonic bath, rinse bath, suction aspirator, drying oven, carrying racks).

Check that the ultrasonic bath is clean and free of debris.

Set the ultrasonic bath temperature to 50 degrees C.

Place impactor parts in the carrying rack

Immerse the carrying rack in the ultrasonic bath with cleaning agent.

Set the ultrasonic bath timer for cleaning duration (2 to 15 minutes depending on material and soiling).

Did the ultrasonic bath complete the cleaning cycle?

Ensure the pump is equipped with the correct fittings

Is the pump positioned correctly on the laboratory bench?

Is the exhaust vented to an extraction system?

Enter the current free flow rate of the pump (L/min)

Is the flow rate sufficient for the required test flow?

Set the regulated flow rate for MDI, Nasal Spray, and Nebuliser applications (0-250 L/min)

Test Set-up - Aerodynamic Particle Size Distribution (APSD) of DPIs

Connect a suitable flow meter to the inlet of the impactor and turn on the vacuum pump

Enter the flow rate required (e.g. 60 L/min)

Is the flow within +/- 5% of the requested flow and below 100 L/min?

Is comprehensive reporting and printout of all test setup parameters required?

Insert the inhaler into the sample collection tube or cascade impactor and turn on the vacuum pump

Enter the required number of test actuations (shots)

Enter the required volume for the test (e.g. 4 litres)

Ensure all cascade impactors are ready for cleaning

Verify that the x-y-z robot is operational and carrying racks are in place

Select the cleaning stages to perform

Is the coarse clean ultrasonic bath required?

Perform fine clean ultrasonic bath

Perform pre-rinse bath with air agitation

Perform rinse with de-ionised water
