Flow Meter Testing
Preparation
Ensure the following components are removed and replaced
Connect the flow meter to the induction port using a suitable adapter
Flow Meter Setup
Select the flow meter model to use
Verify the flow meter is calibrated for exit flow
Flow Rate Adjustment
Measure the flow rate at the inlet of the impactor
Is the flow rate within +/- 5% of the target flow?
Breath Actuation Control Testing
Pre-Test Setup
Ensure all equipment is connected properly
Is the BAC 2100/-R unit powered on?
Conventional Metered Dose Inhalers (MDIs) Testing
Set the air volume to not exceed 2 litres for DDU testing
Is the MDI Actuation Sensor properly clipped onto the MDI canister?
Is the operation triggered by the MDI Actuation Sensor or footswitch?
Breath-Actuated MDIs Testing
Set the flow rate to 28.3 or 30 L/min
Critical Flow Control Testing
Test Set-up - Delivered Dose Uniformity (DDU) of DPIs
Enter the desired pressure drop for the inhaler (e.g. 4.0 kPa)
Replace the inhaler with a suitable flow meter (unless inline method used)
Check for critical (sonic) flow conditions (P3/P2 > 0.5)
Is the flow rate required to generate the pressure drop more than 100 L/min?
Automatically measure and report test set-up parameters
Test Set-up - Aerodynamic Particle Size Distribution (APSD) of DPIs
Connect a suitable flow meter to the inlet of the impactor and turn on the vacuum pump
Enter the flow rate required (e.g. 60 L/min)
Access the parts list for your equipment in MaintainX.
