Blade Drop Speed Adjustment
WARNING: Safety Precautions
Preparation
Lower the blade to the ground before making the adjustment.
Hydraulic Unit Cover Removal
Remove the hydraulic unit cover.
For XtremeV™, XV2™, and XLS™ hydraulic units, perform the following:
Quill Adjustment
Turn the quill to adjust drop speed.
Safety Check
Cutting Edge Wear / Leveling Adjustment
Ensure the snowplow is installed correctly on a properly ballasted vehicle parked on a level surface.
Place the blade wings in the scoop position on the ground with no tension on the lift chain.
Remove the rear push assembly to T-frame fasteners.
Loosen the front fasteners and allow the blade to find a level position.
Select the best aligned hole in the rear of the T-frame and reinstall the rear fasteners.
Tighten all four fasteners to 250 ft-lb.
Raise and lower the blade several times to ensure full contact of the cutting edge with the ground.
Verify that the cutting edges remain in full contact with the ground while shifting wings from scoop to retracted (vee) position.
Check for even cutting edge wear and replace when worn to within 1" of the carriage bolts.
Fuse Replacement
Preparation
Ensure the vehicle ignition switch is OFF
Disconnect the electrical connections to the snowplow
Identify the Fuse Type
Identify the system containing the fuse
Identify the harness containing the fuse
Fuse Inspection and Replacement
Inspect the fuse for damage or burn marks
Is the fuse damaged or blown?
Preseason Snowplow Check
WARNING: Lower the blade when the vehicle is parked. Keep 8' clear of the blade. Temperature changes could change hydraulic pressure, causing the blade to drop unexpectedly, or damaging hydraulic components. Failure to do this could result in serious personal injury.
Electrical System Check
Clean all electrical connections
Tighten all electrical connections
Coat electrical connections with dielectric grease to prevent corrosion
Hydraulic System Check
Check hydraulic system for leaks
Inspect for cracked or damaged hoses
Drain hydraulic system and refill with recommended hydraulic fluid
Postseason Snowplow Maintenance
Safety Precautions
Ensure trip springs are serviced by authorized personnel only
Coat all electrical connections with dielectric grease
Blade and Attachments Maintenance
Clean blade and attachments
Paint blade and attachments as needed
Lift Ram Maintenance
Is the lift ram fully collapsed?
Apply petroleum grease to exposed chrome surfaces of the rams
