Ensure the instrument is turned on

Verify if the instrument beeps repeatedly and displays an error code

Access the keypad and navigate to UTIL > TESTS > CHKSUM

Verify the display of part numbers and versions of software

Record the displayed Software P/N and Code Checksum

Record the displayed Software Version and Checksum

Record the displayed Configuration P/N

Press the hidden key between the Main Menu and Previous Screen keys to access the Door Adjustment screen

Press the UP soft key until the door moves up. Note any observations

Press the DOWN soft key 4 times to position the door lift ram

Adjust the door height using the UP and DOWN soft keys. Note the final position

Obtain Reader Software Information

Open the system menu and select Reader Control > ELx808

Select Help > About Gen5 to obtain Gen5 software information

Perform Checksum Test Using Instrument Keypad

From the main menu, select UTIL > TESTS > CHKSUM

Did the initial checksum test display the onboard software part number, version number, and checksum?

Did the second screen show the assay configuration software part number and version number?

Preparation of Stock Solution A

Gather required materials for Solution A

Pipette a 5-mL aliquot of BioTek QC Check Solution No. 1 into a 100-mL volumetric flask

Add 95 mL of DI water, cap and shake well

Preparation of Stock Solution B

Gather required materials for Solution B

Weigh out 0.092 gram of FD&C No. 5 yellow dye powder into a weigh boat

Rinse the contents into a 1-liter volumetric flask

Add 0.5 mL of Tween 20, or 5 mL of BioTek’s wetting agent

Obtain BioTek Absorbance Test Plate and accompanying data sheet.

Ensure the Test Plate is properly seated in the microplate carrier.

Check the microplate carrier for debris and clear if necessary.

Record OD reading for designated alignment holes.

Is the OD reading for any alignment hole more than 0.015?

Confirm mechanical alignment of the reader.
