1 Yearly Split System Maintenance
Safety Precautions
Disconnect all electric power, including remote disconnects and discharge all motor start/run capacitors before servicing.
Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures to ensure the power cannot be inadvertently energized.
Refer to the appropriate manufacturer’s literature for allowable waiting periods for discharge of capacitors.
Verify with an appropriate voltmeter that all capacitors have discharged.

Perform all of the monthly maintenance inspections.

Check unit superheat and record the reading in the 'Maintenance Log.'

Use only dry nitrogen with a pressure regulator for pressurizing unit.
Do not use acetylene, oxygen or compressed air for pressure testing.
Do not use mixtures of a hydrogen containing refrigerant and air above atmospheric pressure for pressure testing.
Never use an open flame to detect gas leaks.
Leak Check Procedure
Pressurize the system through the service valve with dry nitrogen to 200 psi.
Ensure all field joints are leak free using soap bubbles or other methods.

Inspect individual pieces of the shipment before accepting the unit
Inspect the unit for concealed damage before storage and as soon as possible after delivery
Was any concealed damage discovered?
Take photos of the damage if possible
Notify the carrier’s terminal of damage immediately by phone and by mail
Request an immediate joint inspection of the damage by the carrier and the consignee
Notify the sales representative and arrange for repair
Has the damage been inspected by the carrier’s representative?
