Initial Split System Inspection
Inspection Checklist
Inspect individual pieces of the shipment before accepting the unit
Inspect the unit for concealed damage before storage and as soon as possible after delivery
Was concealed damage discovered?
If concealed damage is discovered
Stop unpacking the shipment
Do not remove damaged material from the receiving location
Take photos of the damage if possible
Provide reasonable evidence that the damage did not occur after delivery
1 Yearly Split System Coil Cleaning
Safety Precautions
Disconnect all electric power, including remote disconnects and discharge all motor start/run capacitors before servicing.
Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures to ensure the power cannot be inadvertently energized.
Verify with an appropriate voltmeter that all capacitors have discharged.
Coil Cleaning Preparation
Remove enough panels from the unit to gain safe access to coils.
Straighten any bent coil fins with a fin comb.
Remove loose dirt and debris from both sides of the coil with a soft brush.

Disconnect all electric power, including remote disconnects and discharge all motor start/run capacitors before servicing.
Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures to ensure the power cannot be inadvertently energized.
Verify with an appropriate voltmeter that all capacitors have discharged.
Pre-Operation Checks
Ensure compressor is not operated or powered under a vacuum.
Maintenance Procedures
Perform all of the monthly maintenance inspections.
Check unit superheat and record the reading in the 'Maintenance Log'.
Split System Leak Check
Safety Warnings
Ensure only dry nitrogen with a pressure regulator is used for pressurizing unit.
Confirm no acetylene, oxygen, or compressed air is used for pressure testing.
Verify no open flame is used to detect gas leaks.
Leak Check Procedure
Pressurize the system through the service valve with dry nitrogen to 200 psi.
Check all field joints for leaks using soap bubbles or other methods.
Were any leaks detected?
Release pressure, repair, and repeat leak test if leaks were detected.
