Check unit superheat and record the reading in the 'Maintenance Log'.

Preparation and Safety Precautions

Ensure all electrical connections are complete before starting the procedure.

Is the compressor access panel installed and manifold hoses routed through refrigerant gauge access holes?

Verify that a qualified licensed electrician is present for handling live electrical components.

Turn on power to the unit and allow the system to run for 5 to 10 minutes to stabilize operating conditions.

Airflow and Refrigerant Charging

Measure airflow across the indoor coil.

Is the airflow measurement within the fan performance data specifications?

Ensure only dry nitrogen with a pressure regulator is used for pressurizing unit

Confirm no use of acetylene, oxygen, or compressed air for pressure testing

Verify no use of hydrogen containing refrigerant and air mixtures above atmospheric pressure

Ensure no open flame is used to detect gas leaks

Complete brazing operation of refrigerant lines to both outdoor and indoor units

Pressurize the system through the service valve with dry nitrogen to 200 psi

Check all field joints for leaks using soap bubbles or other methods

Inspect individual pieces of the shipment before accepting the unit

Inspect the unit for concealed damage before storage and as soon as possible after delivery

Was concealed damage discovered?

If concealed damage is discovered

Do not remove damaged material from the receiving location

Take photos of the damage if possible

Provide reasonable evidence that the damage did not occur after delivery

Disconnect all electric power, including remote disconnects and discharge all motor start/run capacitors before servicing.

Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures to ensure the power cannot be inadvertently energized.

Verify with an appropriate voltmeter that all capacitors have discharged.

Ensure the compressor is not operated or powered while under a vacuum.

Monthly Maintenance Inspections

Check unit wiring to ensure all connections are tight and that the wiring insulation is intact.

Inspect the condenser coils for dirt and debris.
