Ensure all pressure in the chamber has been vented through appropriate openings.

Lock out or make non-operational the driving means to prevent accidental start.

Identify the liquid handled by the pump and understand necessary safety precautions.

Obtain and review the material safety data sheet (MSDS) for the liquid.

Insert brass or plastic bar through port opening between rotor teeth or lock coupling end of shaft.

Bend up tang of lockwasher and remove locknut and lockwasher from shaft using a spanner wrench.

Remove brass or plastic bar from port opening.

Acknowledge understanding of safety information

Make initial packing adjustments carefully

Was the initial adjustment successful in controlling leakage?

Inspect for need of further packing gland adjustment or packing replacement

Contact Viking Pump® representative if necessary

Select the pump series for relubrication

Add grease to the bracket grease fitting until it comes out of the relief fitting on the opposite side of the bracket

Regrease the bearing housing until grease comes out of the shaft end lip seal

Type of grease used for bearing housing

Ensure pressure in the chamber is completely vented

Lock out or make non-operational the driving means

Identify the liquid the pump has been handling

Obtain and understand the material safety data sheet (MSDS) for the liquid

Refer to TSM for procedure on adjusting end clearance for the specific pump model

Adjust the end clearance between the rotor teeth and the head

Check for improved pump performance after adjustment

Ensure the following safety measures are in place before starting

Obtain and review the material safety data sheet (MSDS) for the liquid

Carefully remove valve cap and loosen locknut on adjusting screw

Install a pressure gauge in the discharge line

Adjust the pressure setting by turning the adjusting screw

Close the discharge line at a point beyond the pressure gauge

Limit the operation time to prevent temperature rise inside the pump
