500 Hourly / 6 Monthly Pump Fittings Lubrication
Preparation
Ensure the pump is turned off and isolated from the power source.
Gather necessary tools and materials, including a hand grease gun and multi-purpose grease, NLGI #2.
Lubrication Process
Apply grease to the following lubrication fittings
Is the grease compatible with the grease used by Viking?
Post-Lubrication
Clean any excess grease from the fittings and surrounding areas.
Is the area around the pump clean and free of grease spills?
Packing Replacement
Safety Precautions
Ensure the following safety measures are in place before opening any Viking pump liquid chamber
Obtain a material safety data sheet (MSDS) for the liquid
Removal: Packing
Insert brass or plastic bar through port opening between rotor teeth or lock coupling end of shaft to keep shaft from turning
Bend up tang of lockwasher and remove locknut and lockwasher from shaft using a spanner wrench
Remove brass or plastic bar from port opening
Loosen the two setscrews in the face of the bearing housing and remove the bearing housing assembly from the bracket
Remove pair of half round rings under the inner spacer collar from the shaft (K, KK, LQ, LL, LS Sizes ONLY)
1 Yearly Reducer Lubricant Change
Oil Type Selection
Select the oil type based on temperature conditions
Oil Quantity for Each Reducer Size
Verify the oil quantity for each reducer size
Lubricant Change Process
Drain existing oil from the reducer
Refill with the correct type and quantity of oil
Post Maintenance Check
Record the lubricant level after refill
Cartridge Mechanical Seal Replacement
Safety Precautions
Ensure the following safety measures are in place before starting
Removal: Cartridge Mechanical Seal
Insert brass or plastic bar through port opening between rotor teeth to keep shaft from turning
Bend up tang of lockwasher and remove locknut and lockwasher from shaft using a spanner wrench
Loosen two set screws in the face of the bearing housing and remove the bearing housing assembly from the bracket
Remove the pair of half round rings under the inner spacer collar from the shaft (AK, AL, K, KK, L, LQ, LL, LS sizes only)
Remove any flush or barrier fluid tubes connected to the seal gland
Replace or turn centering clips to original position
End Clearance Maintenance
Initial Inspection
Inspect rotor teeth for wear
Check head for signs of wear
End Clearance Adjustment
Has the end clearance increased beyond acceptable limits?
Refer to TSM for specific model series and describe the adjustment procedure
Post Adjustment Verification
Verify improved pump performance after adjustment
Record the pump pressure after adjustment
