Ensure pump ports are square and in proper position

Shim or move the pump as required

Was piping forced to line up with the ports?

Flexible Coupling Alignment Check

Remove any coupling guards or covers

Check alignment of the coupling halves using a straightedge

Check alignment using a long straightedge or tightly drawn string across the face of the sheaves

Refer to TSM for specific model series

Was the end clearance adjusted according to TSM guidelines?

Measure the running clearance between rotor teeth and head

Ensure pressure in the chamber is completely vented through appropriate openings or connections.

Lock out or make non-operational the driving means (motor, turbine, engine, etc.).

Obtain and understand the material safety data sheet (MSDS) for the liquid handled by the pump.

Bracket and Bushing Installation

Install bracket bushing if removed due to wear.

Ensure groove in bracket bushing is at twelve o’clock position if applicable.

Install bracket and bushing assembly on the casing if separated during assembly.

Ensure gasket is placed between bracket and casing.

Ensure the pump is turned off and isolated from the power source

Gather necessary tools and materials (hand gun, multi-purpose grease NLGI #2)

Apply grease to the following lubrication fittings

Is the grease compatible with the grease used by Viking?

Was the grease applied slowly with a hand gun?

Is there any excess grease around the fittings?

Select the oil type based on temperature conditions

Oil Quantity for Each Reducer Size

Verify the oil quantity for each reducer size

Drain existing oil from the reducer

Refill with the selected oil type to the proper level

Is the lubricant level correct after refill?
