Select the oil type based on temperature conditions

Verify the oil quantity for each reducer size

Fill the reducer with the correct type and quantity of oil before start-up

Ensure the reducer has operated for 100 hours

Ensure initial packing adjustment is done carefully

Is the packing gland over-tightened?

Does the inspection reveal need for packing gland adjustment?

Does the inspection reveal need for packing replacement?

Contact Viking Pump® representative for Engineering Service Bulletin ESB-521 regarding repacking pump

Ensure the pump is turned off and isolated from the power source

Gather necessary tools and materials, including a hand grease gun and multi-purpose grease, NLGI #2

Apply grease to the following lubrication fittings

Was the grease applied slowly with a hand gun?

Is the grease compatible with the grease used by Viking?

Check for any leaks or excess grease around fittings

Check for signs of wear on rotor teeth

Refer to TSM for specific model series

Adjust the end clearance as per TSM instructions

Measure the running clearance between rotor teeth and head

Is the clearance within the acceptable range?

Ensure safety measures are in place before opening any Viking pump liquid chamber

Removal: Cartridge Mechanical Seal

Insert brass or plastic bar through port opening between rotor teeth to keep shaft from turning

Bend up tang of lockwasher and remove locknut and lockwasher from shaft using a spanner wrench

Loosen two set screws in the face of the bearing housing and remove the bearing housing assembly from the bracket

Remove the pair of half round rings under the inner spacer collar from the shaft (AK, AL, K, KK, L, LQ, LL, LS sizes only)

Remove any flush or barrier fluid tubes connected to the seal gland

Replace or turn centering clips to original position
