Vibrating Aggregate Screen Oil Temperature Check
Initial Inspection
Check for signs of oil breakdown
Temperature Measurement
Measure temperature on the bearing housing face using a magnetic thermometer
Measure temperature on the bearing housing rim using a magnetic thermometer
Use a hand held digital heat scanning device to check for hot spots
Temperature Analysis
Is any bearing cover showing more than 180°F (82°C)?
Determine the reason for overtemperature if any bearing exceeds 180°F (82°C)
1 Weekly Vibrating Aggregate Screen Maintenance
Vibrator and Sheave Inspection
Check vibrator oil for impurities (oil sample)
Check nuts and bolts for tightness or missing fasteners
Check decks for heavily worn hardware or worn cross members
Check that vibrating unit drive sheave is free of debris and tight on shaft bushing
Check that electric drive motor output sheave is tight on shaft
Component Inspection
Inspect friction pucks for wear
Check live frame for cracks or broken welds
Vibrating Aggregate Screen Cross Brace Replacement
Brace Removal
Clamp the brace being removed to the mounting tabs at both ends using a C-clamp.
Hold the hex nuts from below and remove all 3/4” capscrews holding the brace to the support frame.
Support the cross brace and remove the C-clamps from one end at a time while lowering the brace.
Brace Replacement
Select the type of brace to replace
Refer to Figure 8-55 for the correct brace pattern.
Position the new brace and secure it with C-clamps at both ends.
Insert and tighten all 3/4” capscrews and toplock hex nuts to secure the brace to the support frame.
Vibrating Aggregate Screen Counterweight Shim Replacement
Preparation
Consult the Telsmith Engineering Department before proceeding with any change in counterweight balance shims.
Shim Removal
Remove the two hex head capscrews holding the counterweight shim stack to the face of the counterweight.
Slide the shims out one at a time off the counterweight hub and lower to the floor.
Shim Installation
Are additional shims required?
Slide additional shims on the counterweight hub if required.
Fasten the shims in position with the two hex head capscrews ensuring proper engagement with the counterweight hub.
Wire Support Frame Replacement
Preparation
Ensure cross bracing is provided if all support frames and drive unit/shaft casings are removed.
Determine sequence of wire support frame removal based on screen model and drive unit/shaft casing status.
Removal of Existing Wire Support Frame
Remove all cross braces from the bottom side of the screen frame.
Support the back plate with a hoist and lift straps, then remove capscrews and lower the back plate to the ground.
Support the discharge lip with straps and a hoist, remove capscrews and locknuts, and lower the discharge lip assembly to the ground.
Support the wire frame from above with lift straps at all four corners attached to a hoist.
Cut the huck bolts holding the wire frame to the vibrating frame side walls at the four corners and temporarily replace them with bolts, nuts, and washers.
