Remove the drain plug from both manifolds and drain oil into a container large enough to contain approximately 8 gallons of oil.

Elevate one side of the screen to facilitate drainage if necessary.

Refill system with 7 gallons (26 L) of specified gear oil for your operating conditions.

Dispose of used oil and flushing solvents according to all Federal, State and Local regulations.

Check oil level in each oil manifold sight gauge before starting the screen

Is the oil level adequate in each gauge before starting the screen?

Check oil level in each oil manifold sight gauge after 8 hours of operation

Is the oil level adequate in each gauge after 8 hours of operation?

Is grease visible at the seal plate/vibrating shaft junction behind the counterweight?

Wipe off excess grease if excessive grease is evident or being flung on the counterweights

Check vibrator oil for impurities (oil sample)

Check nuts and bolts for tightness or missing fasteners

Check that vibrating unit drive sheave is free of debris and tight on shaft bushing

Check that electric drive motor output sheave is tight on shaft

Component Inspection and Replacement

Inspect friction pucks. Replace if surface is worn below usable dimension

Check live frame for cracks or broken welds

Check that support structure is level from side to side

Check for signs of oil breakdown

Measure temperature on the bearing housing face using a magnetic thermometer

Measure temperature on the bearing housing rim using a magnetic thermometer

Check for hot spots using a hand held digital heat scanning device

Is the temperature above 180°F (82°C) at any point?

Determine Cause of Overtemperature

Ensure cross bracing is provided if all support frames and drive units are removed.

Removal of Backplate and Discharge Lip

Support the backplate with a hoist and lift straps.

Remove the capscrews holding the backplate to the support frame.

Lower the backplate to the ground.

Support the discharge lip with straps and a hoist.

Remove the six capscrews and locknuts holding the discharge lip assembly.

Lower the discharge lip assembly to the ground.
