Vibrating Frame Spring Replacement

Lockout/Tagout power to screen as detailed in Chapter 1.

Remove the drive belt(s) from the electric motor(s) as detailed in Chapter 3.

Remove the friction dampening puck from each base assembly by removing the access cover and pulling the spring and friction puck out of the base assembly.

Lift the screen several inches off the screen springs and base frame using a lift hoist and spreader frame of sufficient capacity for your model screen.

Block the screen up on blocking of sufficient capacity to support the screen.

Check mark

Check the spring free height. New springs have a free height of 15.5 in. (39.4 cm).

Have the springs sagged to less than 14.5 in. (36.3 cm)?

Removal of Existing Support Frame

Support the backplate with a hoist and lift straps.

Remove the capscrews holding the backplate to the support frame.

Lower the backplate to the ground.

Support the discharge lip with straps and a hoist.

Remove the six capscrews and locknuts holding the discharge lip assembly.

Lower the discharge lip assembly to the ground.

Determine sequence of wire support frame removal based on screen model and drive unit/shaft casing status.

Remove all cross braces from the bottom side of the screen frame.

Support the back plate with a hoist and lift straps, then remove and lower it.

Support the discharge lip with straps and a hoist, then remove and lower it.

Support the wire frame from above with lift straps and a hoist.

Cut huck bolts at the four corners and temporarily replace with bolts, nuts, and washers.

Remove the breather assembly from the top of the bearing housing by unthreading the complete assembly at the threaded bushing.

Separate the breather cover from the mounting bushing by unscrewing the cover from the bushing.

Clean the assembly with solvent.

Blow dry the assembly with compressed air.
