Open Circuit Motor Test
Warning: Isolate the motor from the truck circuit by removing the power cables. Use two wrenches to avoid twisting terminal stud.
Enter the resistance reading from the digital ohmmeter for the individual circuits in the motor.
Check the measurements observed
Does the meter indicate high resistance in the armature?
If the meter indicates high resistance in the armature, examine the condition of the brushes before replacing the motor.
Is there an open circuit in a series-wound motor?
If an open circuit is found in a series-wound motor, a motor rebuilding facility must disassemble the motor to isolate the problem to the field or armature circuit.

180 Daily / 500 Hourly Steer Position Check
To determine if the truck steer position requires learning, use one of the following procedures.
Steer Position Check - Method 1:
1. Jack the truck up with the drive unit straight. See “Jacking Safety” on page 2-8.
2. To activate the steer system, pull the handle down and then release it.
3. If the drive unit drifts, it requires re-learning.
Steer Position Check - Method 2:
1. Jack the truck up with the drive unit straight. See “Jacking Safety” on page 2-8.
2. Push the handle in one direction. Observe how far it turns.
3. Push the handle in the other direction. Observe the amount of movement.
Pallet Truck (Tow Tractor) Downstop Adjustment
Adjust the fork timing
Fork wheel downstops hit at approximately the same time
Measure the toe height
Remove the top cover
Screws in the downstops fully retracted
Lower the forks completely
Turn the truck OFF and disconnect the battery connector
Remove the battery
Remove the hex head bolt that captivates the fork height adjustment eccentric pin
Battery Cleaning
Warning: Read, understand, and follow procedures, recommendations, and specifications in the battery and battery charger manufacturer’s manuals.
Warning: Wear personal protective equipment. See “Battery Safety” on page 2-5.
Is the truck OFF and the battery connector disconnected?
Is the battery removed from the lift truck?
Are the battery cables not frayed or loose?
Is there no foreign material inside the battery connector?
Are the filler plugs tight and the vent holes in the filler plugs open?
Warning: Keep the top of the battery clean and dry. Corrosion, dust, and moisture provide a conducting path to short-circuit cells or create grounds.
Caution: Do not use soda solution to clean the top of the battery while it is installed in the truck. Water can seep into the electrical compartments and cause serious damage.
Sensor Flag Adjustment
Loosen the two screws holding the flag to the drive unit.
Slide the flag either clockwise or counterclockwise. Tighten the two mounting screws between tests.
Drive the truck tractor-first in a straight line with little to no steering input.
If the truck constantly pulls to one side, adjust the flag accordingly
Cycle the key switch OFF and ON. Retest.
Does the truck drive in a straight line now?
Repeat steps 1 thru 4 as needed to until the truck drives in a straight line.
