Synthetic Oil Suitability Check

Confirm that synthetic oils are suitable for the engine type in use.

Verify that synthetic oils are not being used for digester or landfill gas applications.

Oil Change Interval Verification

Record the recommended oil change interval from Waukesha Engine.

Enter the current engine hours since last oil change.

Is the current engine hour within the recommended oil change interval?

Inspect exhaust valve stems for oil breakdown.

Ensure the engine is off and cooled down

Gather necessary tools and cleaning materials

Release two latches on separator and remove cover

Lift screen out of cover and remove foam filter

Wash foam filter in a detergent solution

Use a non-flammable cleaning solvent and a soft bristle brush to remove protective film from new pistons.

Dry pistons with compressed air, coat with clean engine oil and assemble into engine immediately.

Immerse pistons in a concentrated solution of a liquid cleaner heated to 122° F (50° C) for a minimum of 24 hours to remove carbon deposits.

Use a hard brass brush to remove stubborn deposits.

Use a ring groove cleaner to remove carbon deposits from piston ring grooves.

Clean oil drain notches located in oil control ring groove without using a wire brush.

Ensure you are a technically qualified individual before proceeding.

Verify no combustible atmosphere is present during testing.

Keep all body parts away from the ignition coil during tests.

Verify 24 VDC at power supply and at CEC Ignition Module.

Is there a difference of more than 1 VDC between the power supply and the Ignition Module?

If greater than 1 VDC difference

Comply with the solvent manufacturer's recommendations for proper use and handling of solvents.

Ensure no gasoline, paint thinners, or other highly volatile fluids are used for cleaning.

Make match marks between the plate and the stub shaft before disassembly.

Clean metal parts using approved cleaning solvent.

Inspect stub shaft for wear, cracks, or other damage.

Inspect hex head screws for stripped or damaged threads.
