Control Calibration and Operation

Check calibration and operation of all controls

Check cooling tower spray nozzles for scaling and algae

Check pump suction screen for scaling and algae

Freezer and Water System Inspection

Check water distributors in freezer for scale accumulation

Check water tank for solids to be removed

Check the oil level in the sight glass

Is the oil level below 1/4 of the sight glass?

Add two quarts of 300 S SU viscosity refrigeration oil if needed

Energize the crankcase heater for a minimum of four hours

Record the oil pressure gauge reading

Record the 'ice out' time in seconds

Enter the refrigerant operation level

Check frost pattern on freezer shell and oil trap

Follow all lock-out and tag-out procedures before servicing any electrical equipment

Check for any evidence of oil leakage

Check the oil level at the pipe plug in the side of the gear housing

Is the oil level correct (oil runs out of the hole when the plug is taken out)?

Add oil through one of the top plugged holes if the oil level is low

Refer to the space diagrams to ensure ample room for removing the condenser heads and using the mechanical cleaning equipment.

Order replacement cover gaskets for reassembly.

Disconnect and lock-out power to the ice machine and auxiliary equipment.

Disconnect water piping and drain the condenser.

Loosen the cover (heads) hex nuts and separate the covers from the condenser end to drain additional water.

Remove the heads stud bolts and gasket completely.
