Battery Cleaning

WARNING Keep metal watch straps and any metal fasteners on your clothes, clear of the positive (+) battery terminal. Such items can short between the terminal and nearby metal work. If it happens you can get burned.

Make the machine safe

Get access to the battery

If the terminal posts are corroded and covered with white powder wash them with hot water

Upload a photo of the terminal posts after cleaning

Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly to the terminal posts

Sign off on the battery cleaning

Dust Valve Check

Check the dust valve for rips/tears

Check there are no obstructions

Check that the dust valve is free of dirt and dust

Check that the dust valve securely attached to the air filter housing

Engine Cleaning

Warning: Obey the correct procedures. Contamination of the fuel system will cause damage and possible failure of the engine.

Warning: The engine or certain components could be damaged by high pressure washing systems; special precautions must be taken if the engine is to be washed using a high pressure system.

Before carrying out any service procedures that require components to be removed, the engine must be properly cleaned.

Electrical system is isolated

All electrical connectors are correctly coupled

Alternator is covered with a plastic bag to prevent water ingress

Engine air intake, exhaust and breather system are sealed

Oil filler caps and dipstick are correctly installed

Used a low pressure water jet and brush to soak off caked mud or dirt

Coolant Replace

CAUTION The cooling system is pressurised when the coolant is hot. When you remove the cap, hot coolant can spray out and burn you. Make sure that the engine is cool before you work on the cooling system.

Stop the engine and let it cool down. Make the machine safe.

Carefully loosen the radiator cap. Let any pressure escape before removing the cap.

Disconnect the bottom radiator hose and allow the coolant to drain.

Flush the system by pouring clean water into filler port.

Reconnect the radiator hose.

Fill the radiator to the level indicated using the correct anti-freeze solution.

Check for leaks.

Run the engine to raise the coolant to working temperature and pressure.
