Engine Fuel Filter Replace

Make the machine safe

Get access to the engine compartment

Remove the sensor housing

Unscrew and remove the filter element

Fit a new element. Lubricate the gasket of the new cartridge. Do not fill the new cartridge with fuel

Refit the sensor housing

Bleed the fuel system

Close the engine cover

Sign off on the fuel filter replacement

Make the machine safe

Access to the engine compartment obtained

Engine compartment, fuel lines and the area below checked for leaks

Is there any leak?

If necessary, contact your JCB dealer

Sign off on the fuel system check

Drive Belt Adjustment

Loosen the alternator mount bolts. Do not remove them.

Pull the alternator outwards as shown to tension the belt.

Hold the alternator in position and tighten the mount bolts.

Tighten the alternator mount bolts to correct torque value.

Check the belt tension, if necessary repeat the steps from 1 to 4.

Install the belt cover.

Engine Oil Replace

Warning: Hot oil and engine components can burn you. Make sure the engine is cool before doing this job.

Used engine crankcase lubricants contain harmful contaminants. In laboratory tests it was shown that used engine oils can cause skin cancer.

CAUTION It is illegal to pollute drains, sewers or the ground. Clean up all spilt fluids and/or lubricants.

Used fluids and/or lubricants, filters and contaminated materials must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations. Use authorised waste disposal sites.

Make the machine safe.

Get access to the engine.

Remove the oil filler cap.

Remove the engine oil drain plug. Drain the oil in to a suitable container.

Clean the drain plug. Install the drain plug. Tighten the drain plug to the correct torque value.

Battery Electrolyte Level Check

WARNING Do not top the battery up with acid. The electrolyte could boil out and burn you.

Maintenance free batteries used in normal temperate climate applications should not need topping up. However, in certain conditions (such as prolonged operation at tropical temperatures or if the alternator overcharges) the electrolyte level should be checked as described below.

1. Open the battery access panel and get access to the battery.

2. Disconnect the battery.

3. Remove the battery from the machine.

4. Remove the covers.

5. Look at the level in each cell.

5.1. Make sure that the electrolyte is above the plates by specified value.
