Engine guard protects the frame and engine crankcase

Skid plate protects the rear final gear case

Check the guard and plate for cracks, damage or looseness

Engine guard and skid plate need replacement due to cracks or damage

Guard and plate bolts are loose

If the guard and plate bolts are loose, tighten them securely

Sign off on the skid plate & engine guard check

Refer to Safety Precautions on page 121.

If fluid level is low, have your dealer add the recommended fluid.

NOTICE: Brake fluid can damage plastic and painted surfaces. Handle with care. Wipe up spills immediately. Avoid brake fluid contact with skin or eyes.

If the level is at or below the LOWER level mark, check the brake pads for wear (page 188).

Worn brake pads should be replaced. If the pads are not worn, have your brake system inspected for leaks.

Engine idle speed inspection passed?

Choose the action taken for engine idle speed

Cooling system inspection passed?

Choose the action taken for cooling system

Sign off on the ATV maintenance

Warning: This procedure should be serviced by your dealer, unless the owner has proper tools and service data and is mechanically qualified.

Refer to Safety Precautions on page 121.

Make sure the ignition switch is OFF (w).

Remove the seat (page 133) and tank cover assembly (page 134).

Turn the clutch adjuster (2) counterclockwise until you feel slight resistance.

Turn the adjuster 1/4 turn clockwise, then tighten the lock nut to hold the adjuster in this position.

After adjustment, start the engine and test ride your ATV to be sure the clutch is operating properly.

Check that the throttle assembly is positioned properly and the securing bolts are tight.

Check for smooth operation of the throttle lever from fully open to fully closed in all steering positions.

If there is a problem with the throttle lever operation, see your dealer.

Inspect the condition of the throttle cable from the throttle lever down to the throttle body.

If the throttle cable is kinked or chafed, have it replaced.

Check the throttle cable for tension or stress in all steering positions.
