Adjustment of Packing Seals Without External Flushing

Loosen the stuffing box nuts to allow a strong drip to escape

Verify the extent of the leak (drops per minute)

Tighten the stuffing box nuts progressively until the leak is reduced to a controlled drip

Wait and measure the stabilized leak rate (drops per minute)

Is the leak rate within the acceptable range (60-200 drops per minute)?

Measure the temperature of the liquid that comes out

Is the temperature at least 10°C lower than the boiling temperature and below 90°C?

Is the dripping insufficient (high temperature)?

Ensure the engine is off and cooled down before starting the oil change.

Gather necessary tools and materials for the oil change.

Remove the vent plug of the bearing frame.

Upset the oil-cruet to allow oil to flow out.

Dispose of the exhausted oil following current regulations and environmental protection measures.

Pour oil into the bearing frame through the hole of the plug until oil is visible in the oil-filler elbow.

Danger due to fluids in pressure. Carry out sealing tests provided with apposite protective devices.

Test the piping for static pressure

Is the testing carried out in accordance with applicable standards?

!CAUTION: Possible contact with hazardous media and hazardous substances, cold or warm. Operate only provided with apposite protective devices.

Ensure all protective devices are worn

Verify that the cleaning area is clear of unnecessary personnel

Remove loose materials from piping

Remove foreign particles from reservoirs

Has welding been performed on the piping or components?

If welding was performed, ensure thorough cleaning of welded areas

Danger due to collision, crushing or harm. Wait for the complete pump stopping before handling the unit.

Ensure the pump is completely stopped before handling.

Drain the pump or close the pipes using a valve to prevent sudden rotation.

Wait for the pump to cool down to avoid contact with high temperature surfaces.

Disconnect the power supply and any other connections.

Ensure power supply is restored only by the operator performing maintenance.

Ensure the presence of at least two operators and inform the foreman of maintenance in progress.

Wear proper safety equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, safety shoes, etc.).

Disconnect the electrical power supply and, if required, disconnect the electrical cables from the motor.
