Line Module Replacement
Preparation
Ensure the replacement line module is available and ready to install.
Wear a properly installed ESD wrist strap to avoid damage to the line card.
Module Shutdown
Enter the slot ID for the module to be shut down.
Use the module <SLOT-ID> admin-state down command to bring down the module slot.
Verify the module is down using the show module <SLOT-ID> command.
Module Removal
Loosen the screws securing the line module to the chassis.
Active Management Module Replacement
Preparation
Put on an ESD wrist strap and connect it to the ESD connection point on the front of the chassis.
Ensure both management modules are installed
Identify and Switch Over Modules
Identify the active management module by checking the Mgmt State Actv LED for solid green.
Execute the redundancy-switchover command using the CLI to convert the active management module to standby, and the standby management module to active.
Did the Active/Standby conversion take place successfully?
Module Removal
Loosen the screws securing the module converted to Standby.
Standby Management Module Replacement
Wear an ESD wrist strap and connect it to the ESD connection point on the front of the chassis
Identify the standby Management module
Loosen the screws securing the standby module to the chassis
Open the module levers and pull the module out of its slot
Place the removed module in an anti-static bag
Secure a management module slot cover over the slot opening if not installing another module
Install another management module in the empty slot
Slide the management module part-way into the standby Management module slot
Open the module locking levers
Fan Tray Replacement
Pre-Replacement Checks
Ensure operational fan trays before removal
Unpack the replacement fan tray and place it on an antistatic surface
Put on an ESD wrist strap and properly ground it on the switch
Fan Tray Removal
Select the fan tray to remove
Loosen the two retaining screws securing the fan tray to the chassis
Depress and hold the fan tray latch, grasp the handle below the latch, and pull the handle to pivot the fan tray out of the slot
Shift the fan tray to the right to disengage it from the chassis
