Impeller Clearance Calibration
Impeller Clearance Settings
Measure the current process temperature
Select the appropriate impeller clearance based on temperature
Impeller Clearance Adjustment
Install a new impeller gasket [4590] if the impeller has been removed
Loosen the set screws [6570.3]
Rotate the bearing carrier [3240] to obtain the proper clearance
Turn the bearing carrier clockwise until the impeller comes into light rubbing contact with the suction cover
Rotate the shaft to accurately determine the zero setting
Packing Gland Adjustment
6.1 Maintenance schedule
Ensure visible leakage and concentric alignment of the gland follower
Is there leakage from the packing gland when starting the pump?
Is the packing too loose causing air to suck in?
Allow leakage to flow freely after the pump is primed
Gradually and evenly tighten packing gland nuts until leakage is reduced to a trickle
Is the leakage reduced to a trickle without shutting off completely?
Enter the pressure introduced into tap 5 for packing lubrication (kPa)
Enter the flow rate of drops per minute for clean fluid
Coupling Alignment Check
6.1 Maintenance schedule / 4.8 Final shaft alignment check
Check coupling alignment and re-align if necessary.
Operate the pump for at least an hour or until it reaches final operating temperature.
Shut the pump down and recheck alignment while the pump is hot.
Did piping thermal expansion change the alignment?
Realign pump as necessary.
Enter the parallel misalignment measurement (mm).
Enter the angular misalignment measurement (mm/mm).
Is the parallel misalignment within 0.05 mm (0.002 in.)?
Pump Cleaning
6.1 Maintenance schedule
Ensure dirt and dust are removed from critical areas
Are regular checks being made in dirty or dusty environments?
Remove dirt from areas around close clearances, bearing housings, and motors in dirty or dusty environments
Are there any oil and grease leaks making the ground slippery?
Machine Maintenance Cleaning
Clean the ground before starting maintenance
Clean the exterior of the machine before starting maintenance
Clean the ground after finishing maintenance
Bearing Housing Oil Level Check
6.1 Maintenance schedule
Enter the current bearing lubricant level
Enter the remaining hours before a lubricant change is required
Is the oil level within the circumference of the center hole of the sight glass?
Is oil visible in the constant level oiler bottle at all times?
Check and fill the oil level when the pump is not operating
