Recommended Grease Fill Quantities
Verify re-lubrication interval and quantities for frames
Grease Lubrication Procedure
Connect grease gun to the nipple
Press grease into the bearing housing until the first signs of it appear in the gap between the housing and shaft, then stop greasing
Record the operating temperature of the bearing housing
Is the temperature rise above ambient within 55 °C (131 °F) or a combined maximum of 95 °C (204 °F)?
Is there a continuously rising temperature or an abrupt temperature rise?
Stop the pump immediately if there is a continuously rising temperature or an abrupt temperature rise
Gland Packing Inspection
Initial Inspection
Ensure gland nuts are finger-tight only
Check for leakage from the gland after stuffing box is pressurized
Leakage and Temperature Check
Ensure visible leakage and concentric alignment of the gland ring
Check for overheating of the packing
If overheating occurs, stop the pump and allow it to cool
Restart and Adjustment
Upon restart, check for leakage at the packed gland
Shaft Inspection
6.1.7 Maintenance of shaft and shaft sleeve
Examine the shaft condition at the following locations
Is there any rusting or pitting on the shaft?
Are the shaft keyways distorted?
Is the shaft bent or distorted?
Is the impeller loose on the shaft?
Is the sleeve grooved more than 3.0 mm (0.12 in.) deep?
Measure the shaft runout after repair
Is the shaft runout within 0.051 mm (0.002 in.) T.I.R.?
Coupling Alignment Check
4.8 Final shaft alignment check
Rotate the shaft several times by hand to ensure there is no binding and all parts are free.
Recheck the coupling alignment to ensure no pipe strain exists.

Check the coupling for correct alignment.

Check for excessive wearing ring clearance
Determine if the rings need renewal or overhaul due to decreased pump performance
