Pump Vibration Inspection
5.8.7 Normal Vibration Levels, Alarm and Trip
Record the current vibration velocity (unfiltered) in mm/s (r.m.s.)
Is the vibration velocity within the normal range (5.6 mm/s r.m.s.)?
Is the vibration velocity within the alarm range (7.0 mm/s r.m.s.)?
Is the vibration velocity within the shutdown range (11.3 mm/s r.m.s.)?
5.8.6 Operating Checks
Is there any abnormal noise from the pump?
Is there any abnormal vibration from the pump?
Has there been any change in pump noise or vibration?
8 Hourly Line Shaft Bearing Lubrication
5.2.1.3 Grease Lubrication
Verify all components are in place
Ensure grease is water-resistant and insoluble in the liquid being pumped
Select the grease to be used
Apply grease to Intermediate Bearings [3020.1]
Apply grease to Bottom Bearing [3020.2]
Check for proper lubrication to prevent bearing failures and pump seizures
Suction Strainer Cleaning
Discharge piping
Reattach strainer to suction flange of the casing if it was removed for cleaning or replacement
Ensure strainer does not need removal unless for cleaning or replacement
Faults, Causes, and Remedies
Check for plugged impeller, strainer, or casing due to product or large solids
Clean strainer if plugged
Line Shaft Bearing Replacement
6.9.1 Replacing shaft sleeve bearings
Ensure shaft bearings are only removed if they are to be replaced
Refer to Figure 6-6 for allowable bearing tolerances
Are the bearing tolerances exceeded?
Replace components if tolerances are exceeded
6.9.1a Intermediate bearings [3020.1]
Remove old intermediate bearings [3020.1] (refer to section 6.7.2)
Clean and deburr bearing holder bore and lubrication port
Apply a light coating of grease or oil to bearing holder bore and outside diameter of new bearing
