Ensure clean liquid from an external source is used for lubrication

Verify continuous liquid supply during operation

Check connections to lubrication fittings on pump manifold [3869] and mounting plate [6130]

Confirm flushing fluid flow rate per bearing

Confirm flushing fluid flow rate for Group 3

Verify flushing fluid pressure is between 1.4 kg/cm² to 5.6 kg/cm² (20 PSIG to 80 PSIG) above sump pressure

Ensure rubber bearings are wet at all times during operation

Verify packing sizes for each group

Install packing rings one at a time, ensuring each is pushed well into place

Enter the number of packing rings installed before the seal cage

Install the seal cage after the initial packing rings

Continue installing packing rings until the box is filled

Are the joints of succeeding rings staggered?

Does the taped hole in the stuffing box line up with the seal cage when packing is compressed?

Draw up the nuts on the gland evenly finger tight after the last ring is in place

Inspect impeller for excessive wear and etching due to corrosion

Check pump shaft for straightness

Inspect the surface of the shaft in the bearing areas for smoothness

Check ends of shaft for burrs and cleanliness of shaft threads

Inspect the casing thoroughly, removing all burrs and foreign matter

Check all other parts for burrs, wear, damage or corrosion

Use a dial indicator to check the straightness of the shaft extension of the driver

Inspect inside of bearings in the adapter and intermediate bearing holder(s)

Select the bearing group for lubrication

Ensure the bearing temperature is under 71°C (160°F)

Lubricate the external duplex angular contact thrust bearing [3031] through the grease fitting [3853.2]

Select the recommended grease used

Ensure not to overfill the motor or pump thrust bearings with grease

Record the bearing temperature after lubrication

Reattach strainer to suction flange of the casing if it was removed for cleaning or replacement

Ensure strainer does not need removal unless for cleaning or replacement

Check for plugged impeller, strainer, or casing due to product or large solids
