Was the strainer [6531] removed for cleaning or replacement?

Reattach strainer to suction flange of the casing if it was removed.

Is there a plugged impeller, strainer, or casing due to product or large solids?

Clean the strainer to remedy the plugged condition.

Verify bearing temperature is within the specified range

Select the lubrication group based on re-lubrication amounts

Lubricate the external duplex angular contact thrust bearing through the grease fitting [3853.2]

Ensure not to overfill the motor or pump thrust bearings with grease

Applies when bearing temperature is 71–80°C (160–175°F).

The external duplex angular contact thrust bearing [3031] may be lubricated through the grease fitting [3853.2].

Ball bearing lubrication interval: 3 months when bearing temperature is 71–80°C (160–175°F).

Re-lubrication amounts: Group 1 — 20 g (0.7 oz.); Group 2 — 30 g (1.1 oz.); Group 3 — 45 g (1.6 oz.).

Recommended grease: Mobil Polyrex EP 2, ConocoPhilips Polytac® EP (or compatible Polyurea with mineral oil).

CAUTION — Do not overfill the motor or pump thrust bearings with grease:;

SECTION: 6.8.1 Cleaning/inspection

1. Inspect impeller [2200] for excessive wear and etching due to corrosion.

Large nicks and deep pits will unbalance the impeller, cause vibration, and wear in other parts of the pump.

Be sure the O-ring [4590.2] sealing surface and impeller threads are clean.

2. Check pump shaft [2100] for straightness.

3. Inspect the surface of the shaft in the bearing [3020.1-.2] areas to make sure it is smooth.

It must be free of grooves, scratches, corrosion or wear.

4. Check ends of shaft for burrs.

Make sure that shaft threads are clean.

Verify the following conditions before lubrication

Enter the amount of grease for Intermediate Bearings [3020.1] in grams

Enter the amount of grease for Bottom Bearing [3020.2] in grams

Ensure proper lubrication to prevent bearing failures, pump seizures, and pump failure
