Inspect the ignition cable from the ignitor to the spark generator for damage and secure connections.

Inspect the ground wire from the ignitor to the CTRLMax control module for damage and secure connections.

Inspect the wiring between the spark generator and the CTRLMax Control module for damage and secure connections.

Wiring Condition and Connection

Is all wiring in good condition and securely connected?

Water and Gas Piping Inspection

Inspect all water and gas piping for leaks and verify proper support

Inspect the fittings and components on the unit for leaks

WARNING: Eliminate all system water leaks

Describe any water leaks found and actions taken to eliminate them

Describe any gas leaks found and actions taken to eliminate them

Inspect the gas supply piping using the procedure outlined in Section 11.3.4 on page 60

Inspect the flame pattern through the observation port of the heat exchanger.

Is the flame pattern fully blue and covering the entire burner surface during high fire?

Shut the unit down and allow it to cool thoroughly before disassembly.

Close the external manual gas valve on the gas supply line.

Disconnect the gas piping and gas valve wire harness connector.

Disconnect the wiring harness connectors from the blower.

Remove the blower clamp and remove the blower from the unit.

Remove the ignitor from the burner mounting plate

Remove white oxides from the ignitor using fine grit sandpaper or steel wool

Is the ignitor clean to a satisfactory condition?

Replace the ignitor if it is not clean to a satisfactory condition

Is the gasket in good condition and correctly positioned?

Replace the gasket if necessary

Tighten ignitor screws in multiple steps, alternating between the screws for proper alignment

Vent and Air Inlet Piping Inspection

Check vent piping for obstructions or damage

Check combustion air inlet piping for obstructions or damage

Pressure Relief Valve Inspection

Check the pressure relief valve for proper operation

Condensate Drain System Inspection

Check the condensate drain system for blockages or leaks
