Has the power source been removed to provide clearance?

Loosen the impeller while the rotating assembly is still secured to the pump casing.

Remove the seal cavity drain plug (18) and drain the seal lubricant.

Clean and reinstall the seal cavity drain plug.

Impeller Immobilization and Removal

Immobilize the impeller by wedging a block of wood between the vanes and the pump casing.

Remove the impeller capscrew and washer (28 and 29).

Clean Air Release Valve Plunger Rod (If So Equipped)

Inspect Front Impeller Clearance (Wear Plate)

Inspect Rear Impeller Clearance (Seal Plate)

Remove the pressure relief valve for inspection

Inspect the valve for any signs of damage or wear

Apply 'Loctite Pipe Sealant With Teflon No. 592' on the relief valve threads

Reinstall the relief valve with the discharge port pointing down as shown in Figure 1

Ensure the replacement valve is specified or provided by the Gorman-Rupp Company

Remove the pump casing drain plugs

Clean and reinstall the drain plugs

Disconnect the extension pipe assembly at the coupling

Back Suction Cover and Wear Plate Removal

Remove the hardware and pull the back suction cover and assembled wear plate from the pump casing

Shaft Key Installation and Power Source Connection

Install the shaft key (13, Figure 2)

Install guards over rotating members

Ensure all guards are in place before operating the pump

Suction and Discharge Lines Installation

Install the suction and discharge lines
