Apply oil to the shaft and work it up under the bellows

Use a pair of stiff wires with hooked ends to remove the rotating portion of the seal off the shaft

Use a pair of stiff wires with hooked ends to remove the stationary portion of the seal

Remove the hardware (7 and 8) and separate the seal plate (4) and gasket (5) from the bearing housing (9)

Position the seal plate on a flat surface with the impeller side down

Clean Air Release Valve Plunger Rod (If So Equipped)

Inspect Front Impeller Clearance (Wear Plate)

Inspect Rear Impeller Clearance (Seal Plate)

Review all SAFETY information in Section A.

Follow the instructions on all tags, labels, and decals attached to the pump.

Is the power source disconnected or locked out to ensure the pump remains inoperative?

Has the pump completely cooled if it was overheated?

Are the suction and discharge valves closed?

Is the pump vented slowly and cautiously?

Familiarize yourself with the manual

Disconnect or lock out the power source

Allow the pump to cool if overheated

Check the temperature before opening any covers, plates, or plugs

Close the suction and discharge valves

Vent the pump slowly and cautiously

Ensure the power source is removed to provide clearance.

Remove the seal cavity drain plug (15) and drain the seal lubricant.

Clean and reinstall the seal cavity drain plug.

Immobilize the impeller by wedging a block of wood between the vanes and the pump casing.

Remove the impeller capscrew and washer (25 and 26).

Install a lathe dog on the drive end of the shaft (23) with the 'V' notch positioned over the shaft key.
