Familiarize yourself with the manual

Disconnect or lock out the power source

Allow the pump to completely cool if overheated

Check the temperature before opening any covers, plates, or plugs

Close the suction and discharge valves

Vent the pump slowly and cautiously

Disassembly of Air Release Valve

Clean Pressure Relief Valve if equipped

Inspect, Clean, Adjust, Repair or Replace as Necessary

Air Release Valve Plunger Rod Maintenance

Inspect, Clean, Adjust, Repair or Replace as Necessary

Front Impeller Clearance Maintenance

Inspect, Clean, Adjust, Repair or Replace as Necessary

Rear Impeller Clearance Maintenance

Inspect, Clean, Adjust, Repair or Replace as Necessary

Ensure the following items are available

Apply water-resistant grease to the lip seal, O-ring, and plunger rod before reassembly.

Add water-resistant grease through the grease fitting weekly as per the Preventive Maintenance Schedule.

Is the valve sticking or operating erratically?

If yes, apply a liberal amount of water-resistant grease to the plunger rod using a small brush.

Apply lubricant through the spring to the visible part of the shaft while the valve is in both open and closed positions.
