Shaft / Bearing Removal
Shaft and Bearing Disassembly Caution
Ensure disassembly is performed in a properly-equipped shop by qualified personnel.
Bearing Housing Drainage
Remove the bearing housing drain plug (15) and drain the lubricant.
Clean and reinstall the drain plug.
Bearing Cap and Oil Seal Removal
Disengage the hardware (16 and 17).
Slide the bearing cap (18) and oil seal (6) off the shaft.
Remove the bearing cap gasket (19).
Pump / Seal Disassembly
Pre-Disassembly Safety Checks
Review all SAFETY information in Section A.
Follow the instructions on all tags, labels, and decals attached to the pump.
Is the power source disconnected or locked out to ensure the pump remains inoperative?
Has the pump completely cooled if it was overheated?
Check the temperature before opening any covers, plates, or plugs.
Close the suction and discharge valves.
Vent the pump slowly and cautiously.
Drain the pump.
Rotating Assembly Removal
Preparation
Ensure the power source is removed to provide clearance.
Remove the seal cavity drain plug (15) and drain the seal lubricant.
Clean and reinstall the seal cavity drain plug.
Impeller Loosening
Immobilize the impeller by wedging a block of wood between the vanes and the pump casing.
Remove the impeller capscrew and washer (25 and 26).
Install the shaft key (22).
Install a lathe dog on the drive end of the shaft (23) with the 'V' notch positioned over the shaft key.

Clean Air Release Valve Plunger Rod (If So Equipped)
Inspect Front Impeller Clearance (Wear Plate)
Inspect Rear Impeller Clearance (Seal Plate)
Final Pump Assembly
Shaft Key Installation and Power Source Connection
Install the shaft key (22, Figure 2)
Reconnect the power source
Ensure all guards are installed over rotating members
Suction and Discharge Lines Installation
Install the suction line
Install the discharge line
Open all valves
Are all piping connections tight, properly supported, and secure?
