Heads-Up Display Testing
Initialization and Light Check
Verify all lights illuminate for 20 seconds upon initialization.
Check cylinder pressure indicator lights
End-of-Service Indicator Alarm
Did the end-of-service indicator alarm actuate?
Describe actions taken if end-of-service indicator alarm actuated
PASS Device and HUD Synchronization
Is the SCBA equipped with a PASS device?
Verify HUD lights flash in an alternating pattern when the distress alarm goes into pre-alarm mode.
Shoulder Harness and Waist Pad Cleaning
Spot Cleaning the Shoulder Harness and Waist Pad
Brush and/or rinse off any debris.
Apply the cleaning solution to the soiled areas according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Scrub the soiled areas using a sponge or a soft-bristled brush.
Rinse the area thoroughly with water.
Repeat rinsing for heavily soiled areas if necessary.
Set the soft goods aside to air dry.
Machine Washing the Shoulder Harness and Waist Pad
Detach the shoulder harness, waist pad, straps, and UEBSS or dual EBSS pouch from the backframe.
Respirator Cleaning
Preparation
Is the respirator warmed if stored or used at cold temperatures?
Is the respirator completely dry if used at cold temperatures after cleaning?
Exterior Cleaning
Wipe accumulated dirt from the exterior of the respirator using a damp sponge.
Clean the front of the remote gauge housing to ensure proper functioning of the light sensor.
Facepiece Cleaning
Remove any 3M Scott Sight In-Mask Display (IMD) components prior to cleaning the AV-3000 HT facepiece.
Select the cleaning supplies used for the facepiece
Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus Testing
Initial Regulator and Valve Check
Check that the mask-mounted regulator purge valve is closed
Depress the air saver/donning switch on the E-Z Flo+ regulator or pull the auto air-saver switch on the E-Z Flo C5 regulator
Cylinder Valve and Alarm Check
Slowly open the cylinder valve by rotating the knob counterclockwise
Confirm Vibralert alarm sounds and stops
Confirm HUD initializes and displays air supply level
Check for low battery light on HUD
Confirm PASS device chirps when cylinder valve is opened
Regulator Check
Pre-Check Preparations
Is the respirator cylinder at least 1/2 full?
If the cylinder is 1/3 full or less, did the Vibralert initiate?
Regulator Setup
Verify the following on the regulator
Close the purge knob
Reattach the regulator to the respirator (if removed for cleaning)
Cylinder Valve Operation
Slowly open the cylinder valve at least 1 full turn
