Shoulder Harness and Waist Pad Cleaning
Spot Cleaning Procedure
Brush and/or rinse off any debris from the shoulder harness and waist pad.
Apply the cleaning solution to the soiled areas according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Scrub the soiled areas using a sponge or a soft-bristled brush.
Rinse the area thoroughly with water.
Repeat rinsing and scrubbing for heavily soiled areas if necessary.
Set the soft goods aside to air dry.
Machine Washing Procedure
Detach the shoulder harness, waist pad, straps, and UEBSS or dual EBSS pouch from the backframe.
RIC/UAC Connection Inspection
Initial Inspection
Remove the dust cap from the RIC/UAC coupling on the respirator
Visually inspect the coupling for dirt or damage
Cleaning and Maintenance
Remove any dirt or contamination from the coupling
Is the RIC/UAC coupling on the respirator damaged?
If damaged
Remove the respirator from service
Tag the respirator for repair by authorized personnel
Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus Testing
Initial Regulator and Valve Check
Check that the mask-mounted regulator purge valve is closed (pointer on the knob points up).
Depress the center of the air saver/donning switch on the E-Z Flo+ regulator or pull the auto air-saver switch on the E-Z Flo C5 regulator latch and release.
Cylinder Valve and Alarm Check
Slowly open the cylinder valve by fully rotating the knob counterclockwise.
Confirm the following occur when the cylinder valve is opened
Pressure Gauge Check
Enter the reading of the remote pressure gauge.
Is the remote pressure gauge reading within 10% of the cylinder pressure gauge?
Heads-Up Display Testing
Initialization and Light Check
Verify all lights illuminate for 20 seconds upon initialization.
Check cylinder pressure indicator lights
End-of-Service Indicator Alarm
Did the end-of-service indicator alarm actuate?
Describe actions taken if end-of-service indicator alarm actuated
PASS Device and HUD Synchronization
Is the PASS device equipped?
Verify HUD lights flash in an alternating pattern when the distress alarm goes into pre-alarm mode.
Batteries Testing
Pre-test Setup
Ensure the distress alarm is off (cylinder valve closed, no sensor module lights flashing)
Confirm no tools are used to close the cylinder valve
Battery Condition Test
Press and hold the manual reset (yellow) button on the console
Observe the final light color in the sequence to determine battery status
Post-test Actions
If red light observed, replace all batteries before using the respirator again
