CNC Lathe Collet Change
Preparation
Ensure all necessary tools are available
Safety Warnings
Avoid using compressed air to clean the machine
Do not close collet if bar is not inserted
Adjust clamping pressure to type of collet and machining
Procedure applies to both simple-cone and double-cone collets
Collet Change Procedure
Open collet by pressing push-button for the main or sub-spindle

Release stop nut B of the valve on the side where intervention will be performed

Preliminary Checks
Ensure live spindles are greased for 'life' and do not require additional greasing.
Check for any visible damage to seals due to chipping bits.
Manual Check
Rotate live-spindle manually to check for axial or radial plays.
Machine Check
Fit live-spindle on the machine and rotate at 2000 rpm in one direction (M73). Record the duration of rotation.
Rotate live-spindle in reverse direction (M74) at 2000 rpm for the same duration. Record the duration of rotation.
