Identify the type of split pillowblock bearing

Repack the bearing with fresh grease

Pack the bearing fully and fill the housing reservoir to the bottom of the shaft on both sides of the bearing

Replace the bearing cap, ensuring not to mix caps

Ensure no over lubrication of split pillowblock bearings

Replace worn ceramic-felt shaft seals

Lubricate lip-type shaft seals with 'NEVER-SEEZ' or other anti-seize compound

Schedule lubrication in accordance with the bearing lubrication table on page 5

Ensure electrical supply is disconnected and locked out

Check all setscrews and bolts for tightness

Refer to the corresponding table for correct torques

Recheck wheel, sheave, and coupling setscrews after a few minutes of operation

Recheck wheel, sheave, and coupling setscrews after eight hours of operation

Recheck wheel, sheave, and coupling setscrews after two weeks of operation

Refer to Table 1 for wheel setscrew torques

Refer to Table 2 for bearing setscrew torques

Ensure electrical supply is completely disconnected and locked out

Securely block the rotating assembly

Is there any wear or corrosion on the fan wheel?

Is there any build-up of material on the fan wheel?

Clean or replace the wheel as required

Ensure the fan hub is not removed or loosened from the fan wheel

Applies during long-term or outdoor storage only

Regrease mounted bearings and wrap with plastic for protection

Add additional grease to split housed bearings to fill the bearing housing cavity

Rotate the fan wheel and motor shaft by hand at least every two weeks to redistribute grease on internal bearing parts

Use caution when purging to avoid excessive pressure that can damage the seals

Rotate the shaft while slowly adding grease
