Purge fan and motor bearings with new grease

Rotate the shaft while slowly adding grease

Repack the bearing with fresh grease

Pack the bearing fully and fill the housing reservoir to the bottom of the shaft on both sides of the bearing

Replace the bearing cap, ensuring caps are not mixed

Ensure no over lubrication of split pillowblock bearings

Ensure electrical supply is completely disconnected and locked out

Check all setscrews and bolts for tightness

Refer to the corresponding table for correct torques

Recheck all wheel, sheave, and coupling setscrews after a few minutes of operation

Recheck all wheel, sheave, and coupling setscrews after eight hours of operation

Recheck all wheel, sheave, and coupling setscrews after two weeks of operation

Refer to Table 1 for wheel setscrew torques and Table 2 for bearing setscrew torques

Shut the fan down immediately if there is any sudden increase in fan vibration

Select the grease to be used for lubrication

Is the fan bearing surface temperature between 40°F and 180°F?

Is the fan bearing surface temperature between 181°F and 230°F?

Ensure all guards are in place if lubrication is performed while the fan is operating

Add grease to the fan bearings while running the fan or rotating the shaft by hand

Was there a slight purging at the seals after adding grease?

Refer to the motor manufacturer's installation and maintenance manual for motor bearing lubrication information

Note any deviations from the manufacturer's recommendations or additional observations

Verify the following components

Has the belt tension been rechecked after several days of operation?

Inspect if the belts have stretched after installation
