Ensure electrical supply is disconnected and locked out

Block the rotating assembly securely

Inspect fan wheel for wear or corrosion

Check for build-up of material on the fan wheel

Clean or replace the fan wheel as required

Ensure fan hub is not removed or loosened from the fan wheel

Recheck belt tension after several days of operation

Select the grease used for lubrication

Are all guards in place if lubrication is performed while the fan is operating?

Add grease to the fan bearings while running the fan or rotating the shaft by hand

Was just enough grease added to cause a slight purging at the seals?

Is the environment clean and within the temperature range of -20°F. to 120°F.?

Refer to your motor manufacturer's installation and maintenance manual for motor bearing lubrication information and note any specific instructions

Ensure electrical supply is completely disconnected and locked out

Check all setscrews and bolts for tightness

Recheck wheel, sheave, and coupling setscrews after a few minutes of operation

Recheck wheel, sheave, and coupling setscrews after eight hours of operation

Recheck wheel, sheave, and coupling setscrews after two weeks of operation

Record any sudden increase in fan vibration and shut down the fan immediately if observed

Ensure the electrical supply is completely disconnected and locked out

Check the V-belt drive for proper alignment and tension

Measure belt tension with a tensioning gage

Is the belt tension within acceptable limits?

Determine the action based on belt tension

Check sheave alignment using a straightedge

Is there any gap indicating misalignment?
